The Right Side of Bad

The Right Side of Bad is an immersive glance into the contemporary world of anxiety and uncertainty. The disease spreading across the globe has left its characters stunted in lives that now seem distant, superficial, and foreign. Longing for the contact of others, they find respite in the few people they can trust. Finding comfort in new bad habits, they trudge toward the hope that all is not lost.

Acclaim

“This undeniably clever outburst of fiction was both somehow seducing and bleak. I knew I loved The Right Side of Bad before I made it through the first page. Reading Jon’s sly and staggered out prose is a unique experience that all should have.”

-Mallory Smart, author of The Only Living Girl in Chicago

“An index of new anxieties and intimate lowlife spectacle. Raw, grim, easy, beautiful, and terrible. A haunting glimpse of how we lived then and how we might live forever.”

-Scout Tafoya, author of Cinemaphagy: On the Psychedelic Classical Form of Tobe Hooper

“The most wonderful screw of The Right Side of Bad is how lonely it feels; a lattice of loner stories. The care Jon takes in mining the quiet warmth in being connected to the world but not feeling a part of it is true grit in the lotion, and relatable to anyone who’s ever taken a breath.”

-Steak Mtn (Christopher Norris), author of Hunchback ‘88

“Jon Nix’s stories show a vivid, beautiful, intense portrait of the times we’re living in. Here we see Americans in the grip and sway of a troubled age. This is us and how we live.”

-Adam Gnade, author of After Tonight, Everything Will Be Different
